The imam, whose name was Salem Ahmed bin Ali Jaber, commanded such respect in his town that four militants affiliated with al-Qaeda asked for an audience with him. They were joined by Jaber's cousin, a police officer. No one knows what was said during their meeting because all six men present were vaporized by a missile fired by a U.S. drone.

Lawmakers Resist Obama's Call to Offer $2B in Loan Assistance to Egypt

President Obama's call for $2 billion in loan assistance to Egypt has left many political figures scratching their heads as they try to figure out why a debt-ridden U.S. would commit that much money to a country whose new government may not end up friendly to America.

In Thursday's sweeping address on the uprisings in the Middle East and North Africa, the president said he wants the U.S. to forgive roughly $1 billion in debt owed by Egypt and to provide another $1 billion in loan guarantees to free up money for job-creation efforts there.

"We do not want a democratic Egypt to be saddled by the debts of its past," Obama said. "So we will relieve a democratic Egypt of up to $1 billion in debt and work with our Egyptian partners to invest these resources to foster growth and entrepreneurship."

But with the U.S. grappling with more than $14 trillion in debt and lawmakers fighting over the terms for increasing the nation's own ability to borrow money, the president's call to help Egypt has face resistance in Congress.

"Considering our own national debt, we cannot afford to forgive up to $1 billion of Egypt's debt," said Rep. Elena Ros-Lehtinen, the chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

"I am deeply concerned that the president did not rule out providing aid to Egypt if the Muslim Brotherhood is part of the government," she said. "The U.S. should only provide assistance to Egypt after we know that Egypt's new government will not include the Muslim Brotherhood and will be democratic, pro-American and committed to abiding by peace agreements with Israel."

Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, who is running for president, posted this message on his Twitter account: "Pres. Obama: $2B in loan guarantees for Egypt'. Guaranteed with WHAT?? We're broke. Who will guarantee our guarantee??"

Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla, had a similar reaction.

"Where are we going to get $1 billion?" he told Dow Jones News Service. "If we give them $1 billion, we're going to borrow $400 million from the Chinese."

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, which would have to allocate the funds, told Dow Jones News Service, "I don't know where this money is going to come from. Two billion dollars, when everything is getting cut to the bone, is going to be difficult."

The White House says it is expecting broad international support for Egypt and Tunisia, the two nations seen as models while protests for freedoms elsewhere have been crushed. While uprisings in Egpyt and Tunisia led to dictators being toppled, protesters in Bahrain, Yemen, Syria and other nations have endured brutal setbacks

But officials say world leaders are not likely to emerge from next week's G-8 summit in France with a deal on a dollar amount for aid that would be sent to the North African countries as they embark on democratic transitions.

The interim prime ministers of both Tunisia and Egypt have been invited to the summit to present their plans for modernizing their economies to G-8 members. Obama says helping both countries with their short-term financial needs will be crucial as they move toward elections later this year.

Obama's trip to France is part of a four-country, six-day swing through Europe.

Poking fun at the continued scrutiny of President Obama's recently released birth record, a San Diego entertainment and events website published a satirical piece that had high school students discovering evidence that the Hawaii document is a forgery.

High Tech High International is a real school in San Diego – and it was one of three finalists in a contest to receive a commencement address from President Obama, as the article states – but students there did not conduct an investigation titled "Say It Ain't So: An Inquiry into the Validity of 'President' Obama's Long-Form Birth Certificate."

The article has been circulated widely on the Internet.

A staffer at the charter high school, who asked not to be identified and referred WND to the dean, said there was no student at the school named Christina Rivera, as the article states.

She said, however, that one of the names in the article fits a student at High Tech High, Rishika Daryanani.

But the article, posted under the heading "Almost Factual News," bears the marks of satire, concluding with Daryanani, the commencement ceremony chair, saying: "Thanks to these two jerkfaces, now we have to disinvite America's first black president and maybe get him kicked out of office, too. Thanks a lot, guys. Maybe we can get Donald Trump to fill in."

The dean of students, Melissa Agudelo, did not respond to WND's request for comment.

High Tech High entered a contest held by the White House to promote the president's goal of securing the highest proportion of college graduates worldwide by 2020. In the Race to the Top Commencement Challenge, students were invited to submit essays and videos that demonstrated how their campus prepares them for college and careers.

The San Diego school was one of six finalists selected by the White House, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. High Tech High made the final three in a vote of the public. Obama selected the winner, Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, where he is scheduled to give the commencement address Monday.

"I'm so proud of the schools that participated in this year's commencement challenge," Obama said in a statement issued Tuesday, and I want to thank all of them for their hard work and dedication."

The San Diego Reporter piece, with a Walter Mencken byline, said two students at High Tech High "decided to subject Obama's recently-released 'long-form' birth certificate to the sort of typographic scrutiny given to the so-called 'Killian documents' that ultimately led to the resignation/retirement of CBS reporter Dan Rather."

The article quotes one of the students saying: "Remember how the right-wing wackos went nuts in 2004 over those documents that showed how Bush was basically AWOL from the Texas National Guard in the '70s?"

The other student explains that, in their investigation, they "tried to think like the nutjobs."

The two students, the article says, found a death certificate for a baby born on the day of Obama's birth who died one day later. They discovered that there was no corresponding birth certificate and began raising other questions about the authenticity of the White House document, but, "By then, we were too depressed to dig any deeper."

Many document experts, in fact, have challenged the validity of the Obama birth record posted by the White House. And some critics say the document's listing of Barack Obama Sr. as the father proves President Obama is not eligible, arguing a "natural born Citizen" is the offspring of two citizen parents.

“Say It Ain’t So:

TAKING A LONG WALK OFF A SHORT PIER, POINT LOMA — It wasn’t supposed to go down like this. When San Diego’s High Tech High International was named as one of six candidates nationwide to receive a commencement address from president Barack Obama this year, it was supposed to be a validation of how far the fledgling school had come in its first decade of existence. Chief administrative officer Ben Daley boasted that the selection proved the value of his school’s emphasis on “producing meaningful work for a real audience — making things that have lasting value and presenting them to professionals in the field.”

Now, he may be wishing that his students had kept their latest class project to themselves. In a good-natured effort to sweeten the pot for the president prior to his final decision, High Tech High seniors Ramesh Bhangoo and Christina Rivera decided to subject Obama’s recently-released “long-form” birth certificate to the sort of typographic scrutiny given to the so-called “Killian documents” that ultimately led to the resignation/retirement of CBS reporter Dan Rather.

“Remember how the right-wing wackos went nuts in 2004 over those documents that showed how Bush was basically AWOL from the Texas National Guard in the ’70s?” asks Bhangoo. “That guy at Little Green Footballs posted that gif file showing how a memo supposedly typed 30 years ago matched up to a Microsoft Word doc with proportionally spaced font. Of course, they didn’t actually prove that the documents were forgeries, but the fallout was enough to take down Rather, and the whole mess probably helped Bush win in ’04.”

“All this ‘birther’ bullshit sounded like more of the same to us,” adds Rivera. “We knew that the people who believed that Obama was born in Kenya — and that his Hawaiian birth certificate was a fake, and that he therefore had no constitutional right to be president — wouldn’t be convinced by this long-form release. When you’re crazy, you’re crazy, and you can always find a way to justify your craziness. But we figured it couldn’t hurt to at least head them off on this whole typography question. Here at High Tech High, we knew we had the equipment, the training, and the critical thinking skills required to do just that.”

“Yeah, we did,” concluded Bhangoo. “Damn it.”

The title of the students’ report on their work says it all: “Say It Ain’t So: An Inquiry into the Validity of ‘President’ Obama’s Long-Form Birth Certificate.” “We tried to think like the nutjobs,” recalls Rivera. “We started by asking why they inserted the green-pattern background underneath the original text. Then we started looking for other obvious oddities. Long story short — yeah, this is kind of a fake.”

“You don’t really have to look further than the child’s name,” says Bhangoo. “The way the ‘r’ in ‘Barack’ differs in all sorts of ways from the rest of the letters, the way the green background fades away around certain parts of ‘Hussein’ and ‘Obama.’ It’s a Photoshop job, and not even a particularly careful one. We did a little followup work and found a death certificate for a Herbert Harrison O’Brien from the same hospital, dated August 5, 1961. The date of birth on that death certificate is given as August 4, same as little Barack Hussein Obama. But the funny thing is, there’s no corresponding birth certificate for baby Herbert. Where did it go? And why doesn’t Obama’s mother sign his birth certificate until August 7, three days after her son is born? By then, we were too depressed to dig any deeper.”

“Our commitment to ethics really sets us apart at High Tech High,” says fellow senior and commencement ceremony chair Rishika Daryanani. “This case is no exception. Thanks to these two jerkfaces, now we have to disinvite America’s first black president and maybe get him kicked out of office, too. Thanks a lot, guys. Maybe we can get Donald Trump to fill in.”

Obama mama promised U.S. to homeschool son Instead signed up 'Barry' as Muslim in Indonesia's own education system

President Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, told the U.S. government she would homeschool her son using U.S.-approved textbooks during the period she moved the family to Indonesia, according to testimony unearthed by WND.

Dunham, however, broke her pledge. She enrolled the future president in Indonesian schools, where he was registered as a Muslim going by the name "Barry Soetoro."

Dunham's pledge to homeschool Obama was part of an ongoing attempt to secure an immigration department waiver so her second husband, Indonesian citizen Lolo Soetoro, could return to the U.S. after his visa had expired.

Dunham separated from her first husband, Barack Obama Sr., in 1963 when the future president was 2 years old. Dunham and Obama Sr. are reported to have divorced in 1964.

In 1965 in Hawaii, Dunham married Soetoro, an Indonesian, and moved to Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, in October 1967.

WND reported earlier this week evidence continues to mount that Obama was adopted by his Indonesian stepfather, raising concerns over his presidential eligibility.

Soetoro had been studying at the University of Hawaii as part of a State Department-initiated student exchange program.

Soetoro's U.S. student visa had been sponsored by the University of Hawaii's Center for Cultural and Technical Interchange between East and West. The program enforced strict visa limitations, requiring foreign students to return to their home countries after two years.

Soetoro outstayed his visa. He eventually was obliged to return to Indonesia after his university program received a special cable from the Indonesian government that Soetoro, a civilian employee of the Indonesian army, should "immediately terminate his studies and return to Djakarta, Indonesia."

Soetoro apparently was expected to devote four years of service to the Indonesian government in return for its subsidizing geography studies at the country's Gadjah Mada University, as well as for his participation in the student exchange program.

With Soetoro back in Indonesia, both he and Dunham filed petitions with U.S. Immigration, in hopes of persuading the American government to grant a waiver allowing Soetoro to return.

Those documents were reviewed by WND. All their requests were denied.

As part of the saga, Robert R. Schmitz, a U.S. Immigration Inspector, noted Dunham's pledge to homeschool young Obama if she took him to Indonesia.

Schmitz wrote in the immigration file dated May 24, 1967:

"[Mrs. Soetoro] also indicated that her son is now in Kindergarten and will commence the first grade next September and if it is necessary for her and the child to go to Indonesia she will educate the child at home with the help of school texts from the U.S. as approved by the Board of Education in Honolulu. …"

A subsequent document dated Oct. 6, 1967 and addressed to the State Department's Facilitative Services Staff of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, explained Dunham decided to go to Indonesia if her requests for her husband's visa were denied.

"She has made application for a visa for herself and her son to travel to Indonesia as she is determined to join her husband as soon as possible, if he is not permitted to return here, because she can no longer endure the separation," stated the memo.

Once in Indonesia, Dunham clearly violated her pledge to the U.S. government by enrolling her son in Indonesian schools.

Widely distributed reports as well as a photograph of Obama's school registration papers have documented that in January 1968 Obama was registered as a Muslim at Jakarta's Roman Catholic Fransiskus Assisi Primary School under the name Barry Soetoro.

He was listed as an Indonesian citizen whose stepfather, identified on school documents as "L Soetoro Ma," worked for the topography department of the Indonesian army.

Catholic schools in Indonesia routinely accept non-Catholic students but exempt them from studying religion.

After attending the Assisi Primary School, Obama was enrolled "also as a Muslim, according to documents" in the Besuki Primary School, a public school in Jakarta.

Obama once 'quite religious in Islam'

The Laotze blog, run by an American expatriate in Southeast Asia who visited the Besuki school, noted, "All Indonesian students are required to study religion at school, and a young 'Barry Soetoro,' being a Muslim, would have been required to study Islam daily in school. He would have been taught to read and write Arabic, to recite his prayers properly, to read and recite from the Quran and to study the laws of Islam."

Indeed, in Obama's autobiography, "Dreams from My Father," he acknowledged studying the Quran and describes the public school as "a Muslim school."

"In the Muslim school, the teacher wrote to tell mother I made faces during Quranic studies," wrote Obama.

A number of Obama's childhood friends from Indonesia claimed to the media that Obama was once a mosque-attending Muslim.

The Indonesian media have been flooded with accounts of Obama's childhood Islamic studies, some describing him as a religious Muslim.

Speaking to the country's Kaltim Post, Tine Hahiyary, who was principal of Obama's school while he was enrolled there, said she recalls he studied the Quran in Arabic.

"At that time, I was not Barry's teacher, but he is still in my memory," claimed Tine, who is 80 years old.

The Kaltim Post said Obama's teacher, named Hendri, had died.

"I remember that he studied mengaji (recitation of the Quran)," Tine said, according to an English translation by Loatze.

Mengaji, or the act of reading the Quran with its correct Arabic punctuation, is usually taught to more religious pupils and is not known as a secular study.

Also, Loatze documented the Indonesian daily Banjarmasin Post interviewed Rony Amir, an Obama classmate and Muslim, who described Obama as "previously quite religious in Islam."

"We previously often asked him to the prayer room close to the house," Amir said. "If he was wearing a sarong (waist fabric worn for religious or casual occasions) he looked funny."

The Los Angeles Times, which sent a reporter to Jakarta, quoted Zulfin Adi, who identified himself as among Obama's closest childhood friends, stating the presidential candidate prayed in a mosque, something Obama's campaign claimed he never did.

"We prayed, but not really seriously, just following actions done by older people in the mosque," said Adi. "But as kids, we loved to meet our friends and went to the mosque together and played."

Friday prayers

Obama's official 2008 presidential campaign site once contained a page titled "Obama has never been a Muslim, and is a committed Christian." The page stated, "Obama never prayed in a mosque. He has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian who attends the United Church of Christ."

But the campaign changed its tune when it issued a "practicing Muslim" clarification to the Los Angeles Times.

An article in March by the Chicago Tribune apparently disputed Adi's statements to the L.A. paper. The Tribune caught up with Obama's declared childhood friend, who now describes himself as only knowing Obama for a few months in 1970 when his family moved to the neighborhood. Adi said he was unsure about his recollections of Obama.

But the Tribune found Obama did attend mosque.

"Interviews with dozens of former classmates, teachers, neighbors and friends show that Obama was not a regular practicing Muslim when he was in Indonesia," states the Tribune article.

It quotes Obama's former neighbors and third-grade teacher recalling how the young Obama "occasionally followed his stepfather to the mosque for Friday prayers."

Daniel Pipes, director of the Middle East Forum, notes the Tribune article "cited by liberal blogs as refuting claims Obama is Muslim" actually implies Obama was an irregularly practicing Muslim and twice confirms Obama attended mosque services.

In an interview with the New York Times, Obama described the Muslim call to prayer as "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset."

The Times' Nicholos Kristof wrote Obama recited, "with a first-class [Arabic] accent," the opening lines of the Muslim call to prayer.

The first few lines of the call to prayer state:

Some attention also has been paid to Obama's paternal side of the family, including his father and his brother, Roy.

Writing in a chapter of his book describing his 1992 wedding, Obama stated: "The person who made me proudest of all was Roy. Actually, now we call him Abongo, his Luo name, for two years ago he decided to reassert his African heritage. He converted to Islam and has sworn off pork and tobacco and alcohol."

Obama has repeatedly stated he is a Christian.

The president's closest association with Christianity apparently comes from his nearly 20-year membership at Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ. The controversial pastor, Jeremiah Wright, married Barack and Michelle Obama and baptized their children.

Trinity church is closely linked to the Nation of Islam, whose leader, Louis Farrakhan, has given numerous guest sermons at the church. Wright gave Farrakhan the church's "Empowerment" award. Both Obama and Farrakhan were featured on the cover of Wright's monthly Trumpet magazine.

Wright is infamous for his sermons denouncing patriotism, whites and Jews.

Obama's secret plan to help Democrats by flushing 9/11 You won't believe how president sought to change meaning of catastrophic day !

Believing Sept. 11 to have been "hijacked by Republicans," President Obama had a secret plan to "flush 9/11 down the memory hole" in order to benefit Democrats, the author of a brand-new book is claiming.

According to "Subversion Inc." by investigative journalist Matthew Vadum, Obama sought to make the environment the prime concern on 9/11 instead of the worst terrorist attacks in U.S. history.

The president allegedly used his green jobs czar Van Jones and the leftist group ACORN to help orchestrate the transformation.

"The leftists at ACORN view September 11 as a 'Republican' day because it focuses the public on supposedly 'Republican' issues like patriotism, national security, and terrorism," writes Vadum, a senior editor at Capital Research Center in Washington, D.C.

"They complain that 9/11 was long ago hijacked by Republicans and their enablers and unfairly used to bludgeon helpless Democrats every election. MSNBC host Keith Olbermann summed up this ugly perspective, calling 9/11 'a brand name. A Republican campaign slogan. Propaganda of the lowest form.'"

Vadum explains that by June 2009, ACORN – the acronym for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now – realized how much money was to be made by jumping on the "green economy" bandwagon. But the author calls a green economy a utopian fantasy.

"The kind of economy radical environmentalists want to force on America is heavily subsidized by the government and bans oil and coal, forcing people to rely on inferior 'sustainable' energy sources," Vadum writes.

He says Obama was counting on Marxists who blame America for the 9/11 attacks to help change the meaning of the day: "It only made sense when ACORN joined the Obama administration in a cynical, coldly calculated political effort to erase the meaning of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks from the American psyche and convert September 11 into an unseemly celebration of radical environmentalism and Big Government."

Jones, the self-described "communist" and "rowdy black nationalist," was forced out of the White House in September 2009 after it was revealed he signed a 9/11 "truther" petition, blaming the terror attacks on the Bush administration.


But in the month before his firing, says "Subversion Inc.," Jones organized a secret White House-sponsored teleconference call with some 60 left-leaning groups including Color of Change, AFL-CIO, Friends of the Earth, National Urban League and Young Democrats of America to promote the greening of 9/11.

A source on the call indicated the plan was to turn what the call participants referred to as a "day of fear" benefiting Republicans into a day of activism helping the political left.

"They think it needs to be taken back from the right," said the source. "They're taking that day and they're breaking it because it gives Republicans an advantage. To them, that day is a fearful day."

Vadum says the people behind the effort thought it best to launch their public-relations campaign under the radar of the mainstream media, since 9/11 is such a sensitive subject.

"The organizing term is to 'go dark,'" said the source. "You don't tell the press, don't tell people you think will tell the press."

On Aug. 4, 2009, the White House had offered a glimpse into its "plans to desecrate 9/11 for political advantage," according to "Subversion Inc."

"Van Jones appeared in a 33-minute video on the White House official blog to discuss the administration's plan to flush 9/11 down the memory hole just as it has tried to do by rechristening the Global War on Terror the 'Overseas Contingency Operations.' Jones said the new rebranded 9/11 will be a great opportunity 'for people to connect, to find other people in your peer group who are also passionate about repowering America but also greening up America and cleaning up America.'"

Vadum says officials never publicly explained why out of all 365 days in a year, Obama's new National Day of Service had to be held on Sept. 11.

More than 3,000 Americans were killed on Sept. 11, 2001, when four U.S. passenger jets were hijacked by Muslim radicals, eventually crashing into New York's World Trade Center, the Pentagon just outside the nation's capital, and a Pennsylvania field.

Startling new questions about 'birth certificate' Experts, analysts – even top Hawaii official – reveal problems, contradictions

After years of stonewalling, of spending a fortune on attorneys to block its release and defend against dozens of lawsuits brought by citizens wanting to see it, after allowing a decorated Army flight surgeon to go to prison rather than release it, after claiming he had already released it, and after mercilessly ridiculing anybody and everybody who dared ask to see it – on April 27 Barack Obama finally, with great fanfare, released his "birth certificate."

End of story. Controversy over. The "birthers" were wrong and should apologize to Obama. Everything's fine now. Right?

Not exactly.

For while the "mainstream media" (that's the corps of professional propagandists who sold America on Obama) continue to ridicule "birthers" as lunatics, the fact is, in the wake of the White House's April 27 document release, new questions, revelations and outright contradictions are emerging with regard to the president's "birth certificate."

For instance, the state of Hawaii's former Health Department chief Chiyome Fukino is the one official who, back when Obama's long-form birth certificate was guarded more securely than the nation's nuclear launch codes, supposedly examined the mysterious document and reported back to the state's governor, and to the nation, that the president did indeed have a birth certificate and she had seen it!

But just two weeks before Obama finally released his "birth certificate," Fukino was interviewed by NBC News' national investigative correspondent Michael Isikoff, who reported that Fukino told him she had seen the original birth certificate and that it was "half typed and half handwritten."

Problem: The document released with great pomp and ceremony by the White House was entirely typed. Only the signatures and two dates at the very bottom were "handwritten." What Fukino described was clearly a different document. But don't yell at WND for that "paranoid birther" story – you can thank NBC for that one.

Meanwhile, more questions are surfacing about the Obama birth certificate that was supposed to end all the controversy. (Remember, before April 27, only 38 percent of Americans believed Obama was telling the truth about his birth.)

For starters, Jerome Corsi, WND senior staff reporter and author of "Where's the Birth Certificate" (which hit No. 1 on Amazon's bestseller list a full month before its upcoming May 17 release), has spent the last week investigating the matter in Hawaii. It turns out a private detective in Honolulu claims employees of the state Department of Health forged three Hawaiian birth certificates for Barack Obama to "screw with birthers." And one of them is a dead ringer for the document released by the White House.

Then there's the question of why the right-hand margin of Obama's official Hawaii birth certificate includes the very same tell-tale scribblings found in a clearly fraudulent document posted on the Internet about a year ago – a document that alleged he was born in Kenya.

Then – reminiscent of the blogger analysis that sacked Dan Rather for trying to pass off a document clearly created in the age of computers as a decades-old typewritten record – two Web document experts reveal various anomalies in the Obama birth document, including a trick typewriters are incapable of performing.

All that is new on WND this week. And the coming days will see even more questions, revelations and contradictions that demonstrate the issue of Barack Obama's legal eligibility to be president of the United States is still very much alive – just as national polls taken AFTER his April 27 document release prove.

When it comes to Obama's birth certificate, right now Americans have basically two choices:

1. Believe that Barack Obama – after years of toying with the America people, millions of whom according to polls doubted his official nativity story and wanted the truth regarding his birth, his past and his loyalties – was simply playing games with the public, allowing military heroes to go to prison, allowing millions in tax dollars to pay lawyers to block release of his birth certificate, and so on, all for some craven political advantage.

2. Believe that there may have been a real reason Obama adamantly refused to release his birth certificate for years – because he had something real to hide, and still does. And that perhaps the latest birth certificate – a copy of a copy of a document, posted on the Internet like the last one – is fraudulent.

Neither choice is very palatable to center-right America that wants a president who is both honest – and legal. Stay tuned. There's much more coming from WND for the rest of this week.

U.S. government questioned Obama citizenship Said it lacked documents to determine birth country

The U.S. government is on record questioning President Obama's citizenship status as early as when he was 5 years old, stating it lacked documentation to determine his citizenship, WND has learned.

The citizenship inquiry dated back to 1966, when Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, was attempting to secure a waiver so her second husband, Indonesian citizen Lolo Soetoro, could return to the country after his visa had expired.

Dunham separated from her first husband, Barack Obama Sr., in 1963 when the future president was 2 years old. Dunham and Obama Sr. are reported to have divorced in 1964.

In 1965 in Hawaii, Dunham married Soetoro, an Indonesian, and moved to Indonesia in October 1967.

Soetoro had been studying at the University of Hawaii as part of a State Department-initiated student exchange program.

Soetoro's student visa had been sponsored by the University of Hawaii's Center for Cultural and Technical Interchange between East and West. The program enforced strict visa limitations, requiring foreign students to return to their home countries after two years.

According to U.S. immigration files obtained and reviewed by WND, Soetoro was approved for a 21-month study grant beginning Sept. 1, 1962, at the East-West Center.

A memorandum from the center dated July 7, 1965, relates how Soetoro had his Class J visa briefly extended after he married Dunham due to a claimed illness on the part of Dunham. His visa had been set to expire June 15, 1964.

"He gave his wife's illness as the reason for his visa extension request," stated the center's memo.

The memo said Soetoro claimed Dunham had been "suffering from a stomach ailment which may, according to her physician, require surgery."

"When I pressed Mr. Soetoro for more information regarding the name of the physician, etc., he claimed that he could not remember exactly," continued the memo, signed by Robert Wooster of the University of Hawaii's exchange program.

Further notes from the exchange program that year related how Soetoro worked at the time for Hawaii-Pacific Engineers Surveyors.

An additional memorandum, from July 13, 1965, advised that Soetoro no longer was associated with the East-West Center, and that the University of Hawaii exchange program could not further help him renew his U.S. visa.

Soetoro had turned to the center to make a special exception in his case and to hold his return travel for another year, or until June 22, 1966.

"I gather that he intends to make every attempt to remain indefinitely with or without East-West Center approval although his manner throughout our interview was polite and cordial," stated a memo from the center.

The memo, from Robert Zumwinkle, executive director of the East-West Center's Institute for Student Interchange, relates how the program received a special cable from the Indonesian government that Soetoro, a civilian employee of the Indonesian army, must "immediately terminate his studies and return to Djakarta, Indonesia."

Soetoro apparently was expected to devote four years of service to the Indonesian government in return for its subsidizing geography studies at the country's Gadjah Mada University, as well as for his participation in the student exchange program.

The memo made clear the East-West Center would not help Soetoro extend his U.S. visa.

It complained Soetoro did not comply with its previous instructions to return to Indonesia at the end of his studies.

Soetoro departed the U.S. for Indonesia on June 20, 1966. Once back in his home country, Soetoro attempted to secure a waiver from the U.S. immigration authorities for his immediate return to Hawaii, according to immigration files reviewed by WND.

Dunham and Soetoro both filed petitions with U.S. Immigration in hopes of persuading the American government to grant a waiver allowing Soetoro to return.

The petitions claimed Dunham would suffer undue "psychological hardship" because of Soetoro's departure.

Some petitions referenced hardship that may be suffered by Obama, then aged 5.

In a Nov. 22, 1966, interview with Robert Schultz, immigrant inspector in Honolulu, Dunham talked about financial hardships for her son.

"I buy personal things for my 5-year-old boy. I also pay $50.00 a month for a babysitter from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m," she wrote, referring to Obama.

That petition was denied, with immigration authorities determining that according to remarks from her own interview, Dunham made enough money to support both herself and her son.

A document to the Assistant Region Commission Travel Control in Honolulu from December 1966 specifically stated, "It was also determined that the applicant's spouse is now employed and can adequately maintain both herself and her 5-year-old child by a former marriage."

Facing repeated denials, Dunham decided she would apply for a visa to Indonesia to live with Soetoro.

'Nothing on file' to document Obama’s citizenship

Before that, immigration authorities exchanged queries about Obama, with one noting questions about Obama's citizenship.

One critical exchange is dated August 21, 1967, from Sam Benson, an officer at the Southwest Immigration and Naturalization Service office in San Pedro, Calif.

Benson's query stated, "There is nothing in the file to document the status of the spouse's son. Please inquire into his citizenship and residence status and determine whether or not he is the applicant's child within the meaning of Section 101(b)(1)(B) of the Act, who may suffer exceptional hardship within the meaning of Section 212(a)."

The reference is to the Immigration and Naturalization Act, which defined a "child" as an unmarried person under 21 years of age who, among other qualifiers, could be a "stepchild," whether or not born out of wedlock, provided the child had not reached the "age of eighteen years at the time the marriage creating the status of stepchild occurred."

A response to Benson's inquiry came from one "W.L. Mix" of the central immigration office, who determined Obama was a U.S. citizen.

Mix replied: "Pursuant to inquiry from central office regarding the status of the applicants' spouse's child by a former marriage."

"The person in question is a United States citizen by virtue of his birth in Honolulu, Hawaii, Aug. 4, 1961. He is living with the applicants' spouse in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is considered the applicant's step-child, within the meaning of Sec. 101(b)(1)(B), of the act, by virtue of the marriage of the applicant to the child's mother on March 5, 1965."

The files do not state how the office determined Obama was born in Honolulu.

The Obama administration should have kept their mouths shut about Intel

White House officials should have "kept their mouths shut" about the reported treasure trove of material and intelligence seized from Osama bin Laden's compound during last week's raid, charged former CIA Director James Woolsey during a radio interview today.

Woolsey further criticized the Obama administration for entering a debate about whether to release a photo of bin Laden's body, advising the president's representatives to "calm down" with conflicting narratives.

Woolsey was speaking in an interview with the host of "Aaron Klein Investigative Radio" on New York's WABC Radio.

On the issue of the announced seizure of material from bin Laden's house in Abbottabad, Pakistan, Woolsey said, "One of the things that I think the PR people in the administration should have kept their mouths shut about was our having collected a large amount of intelligence."

Continued Woolsey, "The story we should have put out is that we tried to get [the material] but we were too rushed and there was a lot there, but we couldn't get it out. And put that out from an unidentified official.

"Because one of the last things you want to do is tell people that you have captured a great amount of material," he said. "I have no idea why they felt they wanted to make that public."

Asked by Klein whether Obama should release a photo of bin Laden's body, Woolsey said it would be wise for the White House to stick to its most recent decision of refusing to put out a picture.

"I think this was a military operation against a commander of a terrorist group that attacked us," he said, explaining one way to treat the operation was without releasing photographs.

Woolsey said the White House should never have entered the debate about releasing images. He pointed to the alternative narrative coming from the Obama administration.

He said the administration "sort of stepped on their own foot" by indicating they would release a photo, with Obama himself then later announcing no images would be forthcoming.

"They need to have their PR people just kind of calm down and keep their mouths shut," he said.

Woolsey added that since the latest decision was against releasing a picture, Obama should just stick to that verdict.

"I think a triple switch back would probably be one more or two moves too many," he said, laughing.

Woolsey served as CIA chief from 1993 to 1995.

The U.S. last week announced it seized a treasure trove of computer hard drives and discs from bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The seizure reportedly also included electronic equipment, personal computers and thumb drives during the lightning raid that killed bin Laden.

Just today, intelligence officials were quoted telling CBS News the captured materials yielded "positive intelligence" on the locations of key al-Qaeda leadership including the whereabouts of the jihad group's No 2 man, Ayman al Zawahiri, who is widely regarded as the candidate to succeed bin Laden.

White House counter-terrorism adviser John Brennan confirmed analysts are in the process of reviewing the materials they obtained on site to determine the next step.

Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Defense released video footage of bin Laden watching himself on television and rehearsing for terrorist videos. The images were reportedly also part of the material seized from bin Laden's lair.
